A copy of this tweet showed up in my Facebook feed today. One of my ‘nieces’ posted it, actually, which is always a nice feeling. My friends’ kids have slowly found out about my history and status as a trans man as they have gotten older. Their unwavering support has been a great gift.

Back to this tweet, though. It’s a near daily issue when someone first comes out or starts socially transitioning their appearance worrying how you’ll be treated by strangers and those who knew you before.

This is a great example of how to kindly acknowledge that the difference has been noticed, and how do I address you now?
