I saw a challenge on Facebook last night from an author that I respect.

Three sentences. Three sentences only, and none about Trump; no political screeds, of any kind; diatribes; or other exceedingly verbose dissertations.

He asked: What is America?

This was my response.

America is a dream; the best hopes of humanity wrapped up in a document that declares the idealism and wisdom of the founders. Unfortunately, this dream has had to contend with the nightmares that humans give each other for the mere sin of difference. May we wake up to find that dreams really do come true.
